When charging the A/C system with Choice R-420A
refrigerant use the above to match the manufacturer’s requirements. Choice
R-420A
refrigerant is lighter than the R-12, so less refrigerant is needed to equal the
same volume in the cooling system. Recover the R-12 from the A/C system from the
low side to leave behind as much mineral oil as possible. Any mineral oil lost
during the recovery process must be replaced before adding Choice
R-420A
refrigerant. Choice R-420A refrigerant is compatible with the
R-12 mineral oil lubricant.
Install new service fittings if applicable and evacuate to remove any residual R-12 and
or non-condensables. Apply completed Choice R-420A refrigerant labels in a visible
location. In automotive applications follow all EPA regulations.
